Selected as one of the 10 best final-year projects of the graduating class, representing the university in the Opera Prima national architecture competition between universities in Brazil.
Developed as my final-year university project, this proposal explores the creation of a cultural and leisure centre in the heart of São Paulo, at the intersection of Rua Augusta, Rua Caio Prado and Rua Marquês de Paranaguá.
Having always perceived the city as a canvas for art, culture and creative expression, I wanted to develop a project that would bring colour, vibrancy and artistic identity into the urban environment. With dance and performing arts as its central focus, the proposal aims to create a new cultural destination that connects existing cultural venues and encourages artistic expression, social interaction and community engagement.
The architectural concept is structured around two large canopy structures that connect different site levels, integrate the existing park and create a sequence of public spaces. An elevated architectural plane embraces the theatre volume, allowing the ground floor to remain open, accessible and connected to the surrounding urban fabric.
The proposal incorporates dance studios, a theatre, café, bar, foyer, outdoor performance arena, landscaped decks and interconnected public plazas, creating an environment where architecture, art and public life come together.
Project Focus: Cultural Architecture | Performing Arts | Urban Integration | Public Space Design
