A Low and Mid-Rise Housing (LMR) case study exploring the amalgamation of two adjoining residential sites, proposing the demolition of two existing houses and their redevelopment into a six-apartment residential building.
The design explores a contemporary architectural response that respects the established character of Wahroonga while embracing the opportunities presented by the new LMR planning controls. Particular attention was given to building bulk, scale, setbacks and articulation, ensuring the development integrates sensitively with its residential surroundings.
The architectural language is defined by strong horizontal forms, curved edges, articulated balconies and vertical screening elements, creating a contemporary yet contextually responsive built form.
The proposal also seeks to strengthen the relationship with the adjoining side lane, improving connectivity and creating a more engaging interface between the development and the public realm.
My Role: Responsible for the architectural concept development, site and planning controls analysis, assessment of new LMR legislation, planning strategy, development feasibility study and production of architectural visualisations and 3D renders.
