A proposal for the revitalisation and expansion of the historic Hotel Paineiras, located within Tijuca National Park, one of the world's largest urban forests. The project reimagines the site as an integrated tourism and cultural complex, combining the restoration of the existing hotel with new facilities, including a convention centre, panoramic restaurant, exhibition spaces, café and visitor transfer station.
The design responds to the site's sensitive natural and heritage context, integrating the new built volumes with the surrounding landscape. A landscaped roof and elevated public promenades create a continuous pedestrian experience, connecting the various facilities while preserving important views of the forest. The proposal also addresses complex transport and circulation requirements, including visitor transfers, vehicle access, parking and connections to the Corcovado railway.
